On Friday 14th October, the Village Hall will be hosting the return of the Funhouse Comedy Club. Compère, “Spikey Mike”, will introduce 3 great acts on the night, and anyone who attended this event last year will know what a great evening of laughter this will be! Acts will be confirmed nearer the time.

Sutton and Barnby Moor W.I.
Will members please note that the meeting times will change and will revert to winter times as from next meeting scheduled for Wednesday 19th October. The group will then meet at the same venue, but at the earlier time of 2:15pm in the afternoon. Members old and new always welcome.
New members and visitors are always welcome every 3rd Wednesday of the month at Sutton Village Hall, 7:15pm (summer), or 2:15pm (winter).
Meet The Neighbours
Just to let you all know that we will be re-starting our get-together again on Thursday 20th October 2022 at the usual time of 12:45pm for service at 1:15pm in the Village Hall.
This month we will be going back to a menu of steak pie and peas with gravy and mint sauce from Fenton’s of Tickhill followed by a mystery dessert. Please confirm your attendance by midday on Monday 17th October 2022 and any specific dietary requirements you may have.

A table-top sale in support of Macmillan Cancer charity will take place on Saturday 29th October in Sutton cum Lound Village Hall from 10:3oam until 12:30pm. Tables available at £5.00 each. New Village Bench
Observant villagers will have noticed a new bench in the village on Sutton Lane opposite the green, at the junction of Sutton Lane and Station Road. This is already proving popular with residents and will be welcomed by the older generation who can sit and relax and watch the world go by before continuing their journey, wherever they may be heading.
Thanks must go to the Parish Council for organising this much needed and welcoming addition to assist the community to come together, relax and exchange news and views from in and around the area.
The Harvest Supper that took place in the Village Hall on Saturday 8th October at 7:00pm was deemed a great success according to village sources.
Parish Councillor Meeting
The Parish Council met in the Village Hall on Wednesday 12th October at the usual time of 7:00pm. A report will follow when to hand.
Parish Councillor Vacancies
The Parish Council have a number of vacancies and would like to co-opt new councillors as soon as possible. If you are interested in joining the Council and serving your community, then please contact the Clerk to the Council for further information.
The Post Office will operate in the Village Hall on Wednesdays from 10:00am to 12:30pm.
St Bartholomew’s Church
On Sunday 9th October 2022 (18th Sunday after Trinity) a “Family Service” took place at the local church. The service commenced at the usual time of 9:30am and was conducted by Licensed Lay Reader Joan Herrington. Gospel Readings: Luke 18 1-8 read by Janet Webb. Prayers: Janet Webb. Organist: Geoff Webb.
The service on Sunday 16th October, “Worship for All”, will take place at the usual time 9:30am. Everybody welcome.
The Harvest Festival Service will take place on Sunday 23rd October, again at 9:30am. Donations of dry goods, tins, packets, bottles will be given to The Bassetlaw Food Bank.
Toilet and Kitchen Update
The church is moving ever closer to raising the money needed for the installation of a toilet and kitchen to make the building more useful and inclusive for community events. So far, because of people’s generosity, £45,000 has been raised towards the target. Further fundraising activities are being planned as well as the church seeking funding from grants.
A special Just Giving site has been set up for anyone wishing to make a personal donation towards the project. Every penny counts and the church appreciates all donations large or small. If you would like to donate you can either click on the link below, or make a donation by cheque posting it to us, or handing it to one of the Churchwardens.
