Sutton and Barnby Moor W.I.
The ladies and of the local W. I. meet once a month (except August) in Sutton Village Hall at 2:15pm. They are a small but friendly group of ladies. Visitors and new members always welcome.
On Wednesday 20th March when the group last met it was the occasion of the A.G.M. when the election of President and Committee took place, and a buffet was provided for those present.
Sutton Art Group
The local art group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall throughout the year from 10:00am to 12:30pm. The group is currently exhibiting a selection of their works at Bassetlaw Museum. They have over 30 paintings on view and the exhibition is open now and runs until Saturday 27th April. Well worth a visit!

Sutton Spotlight
The March issue of the Spotlight was delivered around the village during the last week. The publication was once again well received according to comments in and around the area. Plenty of useful information as always, and plenty of dates for your diaries. The local information sheet is funded by Sutton cum Lound Parish Council and produced and delivered by volunteers. Thanks must go to all concerned.
Gardening Club
The Gardening Club met as scheduled on Tuesday 5th March 2024. This was the groups’ A.G.M. and included a plant sale. Refreshments and nibbles were also available on the night. Chairperson Jenny Bailey welcomed members and guests to the meeting! Four prospective new members present on the night, making a total of 34 people in attendance, with apologies for those unable to attend the event due to outstanding commitments and seasonal ailments taking their toll. Reports were received from the Chair and Treasurer. All officers stood down and six of the seven committee members were re-elected en-bloc.; there were no volunteers on the night for the position of Programme Secretary and therefore there remains a vacancy on the committee. Frank Bradley was thanked for his role in keeping media outlets up to date with the club’s activities and has volunteered to continue in this role, which is very much appreciated. During a period of socialisation, a consensus of opinions indicated that the success of the club and the increase in membership is due wholly to the efforts and input of the committee under the chairmanship of Jenny Bailey, with support from Retford Life Magazine and Retford Times. A great social event bringing the rural communities together in a pleasant atmosphere, with many close friendships being formed. You are welcome to join them.
Further activities about the club can be found at www.suttoncumlound.net or contact the gardening club direct on gardeningclub@suttoncumlound.net
