According to ex-Mayor of Retford, Ian Campbell:
“Bassetlaw District Council is not taking the views of Retford people into consideration on the majority of issues. Most councillors are Worksop-centric and Retford is losing out. Retford is being turned into a large housing estate that locals can not afford with money from the builds going to fund mainly Worksop projects.”
He is now campaigning for Retford to have its own Town Council rather than being included under the umbrella of Bassetlaw District Council alongside Worksop.
