ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: The service at the local church on  Sunday 22nd October is “Songs of Praise”.

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

CONCERNS RAISED: Villagers in the Portland Meadows and Portland Place areas of the village have raised concerns with regards to the flying of a drone type machine close to various houses and outbuildings in the location. The flying machine has a camera function attached and residents are concerned that details recorded could be used for unlawful purposes if in the wrong hands. Some householders see this as an invasion of their privacy. The local PCSO Lucy Campion is aware of the situation and is making the usual enquiries, but without a knowledge or proof of ownership of the craft, tracing the reasons behind these operations are proving difficult.

If you are aware of the situation and have knowledge of the operator please contact the officer on 07525 989 445 and help bring this matter to a conclusion.

PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY: The recent request for interested parties to form a local photographic society in the village has met with a great deal of success. Organiser and well-known photographer Ron Beare has had enough feedback to warrant the setup of such a group. An exploratory meeting will be arranged at the local hostelry in the village, The Gate Inn, when further information will be available from the organiser. Please contact Ron Beare at: ron@redi-image.com
