ST. BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH

The service on Sunday 26th January is “Worship for All”. The service starts at the usual time of 9:15am and once again everyone is welcome.

PARISH COUNCIL VACANCY

Please note that a vacancy exists on the Parish Council and interested parties are  invited to contact the clerk to the council to discuss requirements. If this is a role you may be interested in, then please send a brief resume by email to the clerk@suttoncumlound .net on what you feel you could bring to the Parish Council. Alternatively if you would like to find out more about what the role entails then, using the same email address, send a contact number to the Clerk who will arrange to call you back for a chat. The closing date for applications is Friday the 31st January 2020.

MOBILE LIBRARY VAN

Please note that the library van will visit the village on Monday 27th January 2020 stopping at the usual places:

  1. Sutton Lane / North Road crossroads @ 9:40am
  2. 22 Station Road @10:00am
  3. 46 Station Road @ 10:10am
  4. Town Street @ 10:25am
  5. Portland Meadows @ 10:45am
  6. Portland Place (garages) @ 10:55am

As Retford library is closed for refurbishment at present this could be an ideal time to make use of a facility brought almost to your doorstep. Give it a try!

GARDENING CLUB

The Sutton and Barnby Moor Club will hold their next meeting on Tuesday 4th February at Barnby Moor village hall at 7:30pm. For further details about the club and its activities please contact Jenny Bailey on (01777) 708 155. New members and visitors are always welcome

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

The next meeting of the council is scheduled for Wednesday 12th February at the usual starting time of 7:00pm. The chair and fellow councillors invite you to join them!

CHURCH SERVICE

The second Sunday in Epiphany, held at the local church on Sunday 19th January was a “Family Service” and was conducted by Lay Reader Joan Herrington. A warm welcome awaited worshippers as they arrived for the service, a somewhat smaller attendance than usual, with some regular members of the congregation away for reasons various and others suffering from seasonal bugs that appear to be doing the rounds. General notices were given out before the service itself commenced. These included a reminder about the Parish Lunch, scheduled to take place on Tuesday 21st January at the usual time of 12noon at the Gate Inn. As the service progressed, readings from John 1 -29 -42 were performed by Dylan Boddy. Intercessions: Janet Webb. Organist: Geof Webb.

QUIZ NIGHT

The quiz continues to take place in the Village Hall every Sunday night, £1.00 entry per person which is paid back as prize money! The bigger the crowd – the bigger the prize! New contestants always welcome. Following the quiz “Play your cards right” – Cash Prize! Can you beat the local teams? Come along and try. 8:00pm start and bar open.
